Vintage, wooden child's grape picking backpack
I wasn't quite sure what this was when I first laid eyes on this unusual wooden backpack but I love the story behind it. Apparently when the adults would go to work in the fields picking grapes, the children would run alongside them with the toy version on their backs!
This little, rare vintage wooden grape picking backpack is still etched with the initials F.P - I'd loved to have known who that child was and to hear their stories. I'm not sure when it dates from but having done a bit of research it could be from the 19th Century.
This would make a great outdoor toy - Luc wanted to put his bow and arrow in it but it could hold gardening toys or be used to collect fruit (if you're lucky enough to have fruit trees!).
As with all vintage items, this toy is perfectly imperfect and has been previously loved so will show some signs of wear and tear. The wood is stained in places (probably with grapes!) and the cream back ties are quite worn but we feel it just adds to the overall charm. Please bear this in mind when buying and look closely at the photos for more details.
